Paid Time Off / Leave Accrual Rates
Full-time Administrators
Vacation and sick leave accruals are added to the adminstrator's balance every pay period. Vacation and sick leave is begins to accrue on your hire date; however, no vacation will be paid during the 180 day provisional period. Sick leave will be paid after 90 days of the provisional period. Vacation and sick accruals will automatically stop accruing once leave balances have reached the maximum number of hours allowed. View your accruals and leave balances in Workday. To login to your Workday account, go to and select the Workday icon located in the Resources for Employees section.
Administrators Accrual Chart
Accrual rates are based on completed Years of Service. Refer to the chart below for accrual details and limits. Accruals are added to the balance at the beginning of each pay period. All leave taken will be deducted after the accrual is added.
- Administrators will not accrue vacation or sick leave hours while on an unpaid leave of absence.
- Administrators will not accrue vacation or sick leave hours if they have reach the Maximum Balance.
- Partial accruals may be given to prevent the Administrator from exceeding the Maximum Balance.
- Administrators working less than 12 months will have their Maximum Balance pro-rated.

Absence Management
- Admnistrator: It is the responsibility of the administrator to submit all leave requests to the supervisor in Workday in a timely manner as set by department procedure. are available to help you manage your absence requests.
- Manager: Every supervisor is responsible for managing their administrator's paid time off in Workday. are available to assist with absence management. Managers should contact their human resources business partner if assistance is needed for an absenteeism issue.
Full-time Biweekly Support Staff
Vacation and sick leave hours are accrued at the end of each pay period. Vacation
and sick leave begins to accrue on the first day of employment; however, no vacation
or sick leave will be paid during the 90-day provisional period. Other paid leave
such as University-wide holidays, jury duty, and bereavement will be available during
the provisional period.
Biweekly Staff accruals and balances are in real time and able to be accessed in Workday.

Accrual rates are based on completed Years of Service. The following paid time off chart details the vacation and sick accrual hours that biweekly staff earns at the end of every pay period. The total accrual earned every pay period is calculated based on the total hours submitted on time sheets.
- Vacation and sick accruals automatically stop accruing once the maximum balance is reached.
- There is an hourly accrual rate for vacation and sick leave which accrues based on every hour submitted.
- Except hours associated with overtime and shift differential.
- Accruals are not earned during unpaid leave of absence.
- Part-time biweekly staff's vacation and sick accruals are pro-rated.
