Telehealth Counseling Services
Telehealth Services at The Counseling Center
The Counseling Center offers telehealth sessions dependent on individual clinical needs. Telehealth can be an effective alternative to in-person services for students who may otherwise experience barriers to accessing counseling support. Services that are available through telehealth may vary by semester. In-person services may be required or requested at any time during your course of treatment should your counselor determine telehealth services are not appropriate for your clinical needs.
Available telehealth services May include:
- Initial Assessment
- Short-term individual support services
- "Let's Talk" single sessions
- Workshops and Groups
- Consultation with students, parents, and campus partners
For questions, consultation, or to schedule an appointment, please call 410-617-2273.

Telehealth Counseling Services FAQ
How does telehealth counseling services work?
Students will complete an Informed Consent Form prior to engaging in telehealth services. You will be asked to provide an emergency contact that is local to you and a reliable call-back number, should the session be disrupted.
Are there any limits or risks related to telehealth counseling services?
The Counseling Center maintains discretion to determine if telehealth services are an appropriate level/mode of care on a case-by-case basis. Telehealth services may not be appropriate, or the best choice of service for reasons including, but not limited to: heightened risk of harm to oneself or others; lack of access to, or difficulty with, communications technology; significant communications service disruptions; or need for more intensive services.
Is there anything else I should consider?
Telehealth services utilize alternative forms of communication that may reduce visual and auditory cues and increase the likelihood of misunderstanding one another.
State laws govern the practice of teletherapy for licensed mental health clinicians. Counseling Center staff adhere to all applicable laws and guidelines in the provision of telehealth counseling services.
Self-help resources through the Counseling Center’s website and digital workshops remain available for students to access at any time. Please consider checking out our Relaxation & Meditation Resources, and Apps pages.
